The project includes a full scope multi-purpose arena, a rehearsal hall, convention and exhibit hall facilities annexed to the existing convention center via an underground connecting walkway, a 300-foot tall tower and visitor center, and attached VIP parking garage, in addition to all state of the art arena facilities. He was responsible for directing the project team for all pre-construction and construction phase services. This included directing designers, architects, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, etc.
This project has been the recipient of several awards and recognition as a premier facility. Some of the awards are as follows:
- Venue of the Year by Tennessee Meeting Planners Association International,
- Merit Award by Kansas City chapter of the American Institute of Architects,
- Engineering Excellence Award of Merit for the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design of the facility,
- Gold Award for Excellence in structural engineering,
- Technology Appreciation Award for outstanding design sensitive to the needs of disabled community.
Understanding the clients extremely tight schedule timeline for the Nashville Arena project, the earth and rock excavation work was started over seven (7½) months earlier than the client's timetable indicated. This work started during the design phase of the project, instead of including it with the general contractor's scope of work as originally planned. Later, several million dollars were saved by change order control and monitoring, resulting in the highest level of finishes in a state of the art facility at the lowest cost for any building of its kind opening within a year of this arenas opening date.
